| Aikaterini Gegisian born in Thessaloniki, Greece she lives and works in Bristol. She studied film at the University of Glasgow and Fine Art at the University of Brighton and Chelsea College of Art and Design. She established her career through a series of moving image works adressing issues of memory, landscape and transcultural migration in South East Europe. Her early installations, single-screen and site-specific projects have been described as 'distilled narratives of the personal and the observed, the imagined and the remembered' Lisa Le Feuvre, Gutter Dreams, 2005. Aikaterini is represented by Kalfayan Galleries, Athens - Thessaloniki and she is currently showing her work in an early career retrospecive exhibition, titled 'Falling in Place', at Elefsina Cultural Center 'L. KANELLOPULOS', including her most recent film 'Diego Garcia' commissioned by Picture This Moving Image Agency, UK. Her work features in the collection of the Macedonian Musuem of Contemporary Art, Greece and State Museum of Contemporary Art, Greece. She has exhibited internationally including: 1st Thessaloniki Bienalle of Contemporary Art, Greece; 5th & 6th Gyumri International Bienalle of Contemporary Art, Armenia; Galerie Parissud, Paris; Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Germany. Aikaterini has received many awards from among others: Arts & Humanities Research Council, UK; Arts Council England; State Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki; Nagoya University of the Arts, Japan. .
